I launched before departure, backed away, but it took awhile and I already had time on the battery for the other flight mentioned above. The drone battery started running low and the controller was screeching at me that it was going to land like now! Which meant it would go back to the island! I cancelled that procedure but then had to hustle to hand catch it off the bow, while the boat was slowly drifting toward it. The movement of the drift combined with the urgent need to land had my heart beating pretty fast by the time I had it in hand, no worse for the wear! Enough excitement for today!

1206-Tied up at the new boat site I call "High Rock" boat site. Went a short 3.6 nm (4.1 sm), for 1 hr. 20 min., with an average of 2.7 kts (3.1 mph).
My original destination site was further up Kokoko Bay but were taken by some canoeists so I turned back to this boat site which turned out to be a premium site (see maps above). I knew I could not go further north because of broad shoal areas in the northern part of this bay that are very hazardous.

1300-I flew the drone, took pics of the site, scouted the potential of kayaking up to the Birch Lake portage and cut some wood. Birch Lake is small and did not look like it had much to offer other than perhaps fish. I will bypass that portage (85 m) even though it is short and well within reach.

1325-Snacked on the last piece of pizza I brought along from the overnight at Newberry, MI. It was accompanied by an ice cold beer. Tasted good on this warmer day. 67F/61F. Well head up to the rock to read and enjoy a glass of red wine and some chocolates.

1650-70F/63F. Got the fire ready to burn. Will bake some corn muffins to have with chili for dinner.

2100-Sat by the fire for a long time, but now I'm ready for bed. Charged up one drone battery, the BT stereo speakers, phone, and tablet. Will read a little in bed. 64F/55F.
