0630-Got out of bed after a good night's rest. Temps are 60F in, 50F out.  From now on when you see temps, the first one will be inside temperature, the second is outside temperature.  Windows were cracked for more comfortable sleeping.  Cloudy skies with some blue showing and flat calm water.

During my morning study time I got up to film what looked like a million bugs on the water, but it was just some rain sprinkles!

0830-Sun with more sprinkles!

0930-Departed boat site.

1151-Rained off and on, some squalls moved through, the sun would come out, and then it would repeat the cycle!  Arrived at the new boat site after an aborted attempt to use the boat site of first choice, which was too shallow.  (Dist. 9.5 nm, 2h 43m, 3.5 kt. ave.)

Heated up a slice of leftover pizza from Newberry, MI, my enroute overnight stop.  I had put it in the cooler for a quick snack and it served its purpose!  Did some film off and on between squalls of rain.  Sipped some red wine and ate some chocolates.  Did some reading. Rearranged all the drone gear to get ready for a kayak trip and possible portage into Williams Lake tomorrow. Flew the drone and got some good shots.

1523-66F/60F. Still raining off and on.

Decided to take a shower between squalls when the sun was out.  Felt good to be clean again!

Dinner was grilled salmon, potato salad, coleslaw, hot ciabatta roll, and white wine.  Transferred video from drone and phone SD cards to the laptop.  Charged up all drone batteries and now I'm down on the solar battery charge level, so I need to set up the solar panel tomorrow and try to regain the charge. So far all gear is working great!

No fire tonight, it just got too late.  66F/57F.  Will crack windows again to keep it cool for sleeping.  Already late, so I will wrap things up and hit the sack.  Not sure I can read, just too tired with all the running around and the cool air.  Wonderful day!

Day 1- Leg 1

1500-Arrived Leisure Island Houseboats after two day 830 mile trip through the UP of Michigan, crossing the border at Sault Ste Marie, passing through Sudbury, Ontario, and finally to the town of Temagami. Greeted Mike and Gwen and discussed the trip and their summer business.

1530-The boat was moved into position to load and I went to work getting that done.

1630-Ready to depart base. Weather is cloudy, with occasional bright spots in the sky. Got underway, and other than the clouds, weather was fair, with light winds, temps in mid-60's.

18:30-Arrived at the Tetapaga River boat site and set up to ensure I was rigged for all wind conditions. (5.9 nm, 1 h 31 m, ave. spd. 3.9 kts.)  Good site, but I don't think I will stay tomorrow to kayak the river.  I want to move on given the cloudy weather conditions and rain forecast.

Dinner was grilled burger, chips, and a cold beer.  Dessert after was the usual red wine and chocolate covered almonds.

Rigged two guy lines (stern lines).  Used one of my own (60') and will do so throughout the trip to prevent getting up in the middle of the night to adjust a single guy to hold the stern for a change in wind direction.  Easier to rig for all conditions each time.  However, that requires a second stern guy, which is not provided, so I brought my own.  Also, this prevents having to use the throw line every time the wind changes.  The rubber ball on this throw line can be problematic when it bounces off rocks back into the water, particularly after dark and alone!  I will rig both stern guys each time I move.

2140-I'm quite tired and need some sleep!  I've had enough activity for today.  I will decide the next move in the morning.  May read a bit before bed, but that will likely not last long!  Listening to Pandora music (offline) as I write this.
